Katy's Applesauce

Ingredients:

10 assorted apples
1/2 cup of water
1/2 cup of sugar
Juice of half a lemon
A generous sprinkle of cinnamon

Directions:

Peel, core and chop the apples. In a large saucepan, add apples, water and sugar. Add cinnamon and lemon juice. Mix all ingredients until apples are evenly coated.  Bring the apple mixture to a boil and simmer. Cook for 20 - 30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the apples soften. Remove from heat and let cool. With a potato masher (or immersion blender for adult), mash apples into a sauce.  Eat!

Guiding Note to Grown-Up: To prep this recipe for your child, peel, core and slice apples into eighths.  Provide a plastic knife for your child to easily cut apple slices into smaller chunks. Once all items are mixed in the pot on a table/counter, transfer it to the stove and turn on heat.  (This comes after # 6. Not pictured for safety.)  Allow sauce to fully cool before mashing or blending into sauce together.
