Kindness Made Visible To Young Children: An Album
The idea to create a kindness album started in my nursery school classroom. In the 15 years I spent in the company of young children, I witnessed tender, spontaneous kindnesses that parents weren’t there to see. One September, I started taking pictures of these gestures with my phone. Each new photo became a page in a class book that expanded throughout the year. When children saw photos of themselves and their classmates in the book, they relished the positive reinforcement. By May, empathy became a meaningful value in the classroom. My experience was so powerful that I want to share it here with instructions.
I am currently working on a fictional picture book with an accompanying guide for teachers and parents, called PICTURING KINDNESS.
